{"id":40219,"date":"2013-06-29T06:08:37","date_gmt":"2013-06-29T11:08:37","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thevwindependent.com\/?p=40219"},"modified":"2013-06-29T06:08:37","modified_gmt":"2013-06-29T11:08:37","slug":"latta-votes-in-favor-of-off-shore-drilling","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thevwindependent.com\/news\/2013\/06\/29\/latta-votes-in-favor-of-off-shore-drilling\/","title":{"rendered":"Latta votes in favor of off-shore drilling"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em>Information submitted<\/em><\/p>\n<p>WASHINGTON, D.C. &#8212; U.S. Representative Bob Latta (R-Bowling Green) voted in favor of a bill to expand U.S. offshore energy production, H.R. 2231, the Offshore Energy and Jobs Act.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe U.S. has an abundance of natural resources and through the development of these resources we are able to create American jobs and lower energy prices,\u201d Latta said. \u201cThis bill will expand U.S. energy production while ensuring that it is done in a responsible way.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis Administration\u2019s energy policy is far from the \u2018all-of-the-above\u2019 strategy that the president touts to the public,\u201d Latta added. \u201cSince taking office in 2009, access to privately funded development of traditional sources of energy have been blocked on federal lands while regulations on plants that provide low-cost electricity to families and small businesses have increased. To meet our nation\u2019s growing long-term energy demands and maintain our economic viability in the world marketplace, we must embrace all of America\u2019s energy resources.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>According to the Congressional Research Service, the Administration\u2019s offshore leasing plan for 2012-2017 offers no new areas for lease and the lowest number of lease sales in history.
