{"id":40475,"date":"2013-07-07T19:11:19","date_gmt":"2013-07-08T00:11:19","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thevwindependent.com\/?p=40475"},"modified":"2013-07-07T19:11:19","modified_gmt":"2013-07-08T00:11:19","slug":"ida-marie-welch","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thevwindependent.com\/news\/2013\/07\/07\/ida-marie-welch\/","title":{"rendered":"Ida Marie Welch"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Ida Marie Welch, 85, of Scott, died peacefully after a short illness on Friday, July 5, 2013, at her daughter\u2019s home in Granger, Ind., surrounded by her family.<\/p>\n<p>She was born May 17\/18, 1927, in Scott, the daughter of the late Eva Lavina (Beach) Titler and Clois Titler, and where five generations of her family resided. Marie married Max K. Welch in 1948, from whom she was parted in 1976. She never remarried.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_40477\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-40477\" style=\"width: 250px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"https:\/\/thevwindependent.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/07\/Ida-Marie-Welch-obit-photo-7-2013_edited-1.jpg\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-40477 \" style=\"border: 1px solid black\" src=\"https:\/\/thevwindependent.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/07\/Ida-Marie-Welch-obit-photo-7-2013_edited-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"250\" height=\"362\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-40477\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Ida Marie Welch<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Marie\u2019s life was full of her love for the Lord, family and friends and her church. She attended different churches in her youth and Mount Zion United Methodist Church northeast of Grover Hill when her children were young. She began receiving The Plain Truth magazine in 1958 and began attending the Worldwide Church of God (WCG) in 1973. Later she attended the United Church of God, a daughter church of the WCG, and was active until her death. She enjoyed attending the Feast of the Tabernacles every year with her church and many of her family, and was able to travel and enjoy the Feast in a myriad of locales. Marie also enjoyed traveling to Ireland with two of her daughters and a son-in-law in 2000. Visiting Ireland had been a dream of hers since her youth.<\/p>\n<p>Marie worked as a telephone operator for Bell Telephone in Fort Wayne, Ind., fresh out of high school and again as a telephone operator for United Telephone Service in Van Wert from 1969 through the 1970s. She later worked for Green Thumb and Women, Infants and Children (WIC), where she had dear friends, the other \u201cWIC chicks\u201d. Marie loved working with all the wonderful babies and children there and used her experience of being a loving, nurturing mother to her own seven babies. According to all of her family, Marie was \u201cmother of the year\u201d for 64 years running!<\/p>\n<p>She is survived by all seven of her children, Kathy (Jim) Johnson of Granger, Ind., Carol (Herb) Solinsky of Carrollton, Texas, Mike (Tamara) Welch of Sterling, Colo., Mark (Barb) Welch of Kellyville, Okla., Tim (Linda) Welch of Shelby, Ted Welch of Frazeysburg, and Kristal (Phillip) Frankford of Monroe, Wis.; 15 grandchildren, Aaron (Cathy) Johnson of South Bend, Ind., Ryan (Jaclyn) Johnson of Newark, Jeff (Natalie) Solinsky of Tampa, Fla., Jacquelyn (Fred) Hudson of Centennial, Colo., Tyler Welch of Denver, Colo., Jaime (Alex) Roth of Homer, Alaska, Matt Welch, presently of Seoul, South Korea, Kimberly Welch of Toledo, Katie Welch of Shelby, Danielle (Tylor) Wendt of Madison, Wis., and Samuel, Michael, Gabriel, Joel and Ezekiel Frankford, all of Monroe, Wis.; and seven great-grandchildren, Susan of South Bend, Ind., Sawyer and Isla of Newark, William and Jenna of Centennial, Colo., Xander of Homer, Alaska, and Arthur of Madison, Wis.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday, July 9, at Brickner Funeral Home in Van Wert.
