ROCKY McVAIGH\/<\/strong>for the Van Wert independent<\/em><\/p>\n

The Van Wert Marlins closed out their regular season with a couple of losses in away meets.<\/p>\n

On Thursday, June 27, the Marlins lost a very close meet at Bluffton. The Marlins competed very well in the individual event competition, but were only able to field four relay teams, which resulted in the scoring difference.<\/p>\n

Winning all of their individual events were Sam Easley (5), Tyra McClain (5), Dylan Neate (5), Daniel Miller (5) and Bethany Fast (4).\u00a0 Also bringing home first place finishes were Emma Pollock (4); Jamie Burenga (2); Ian Rex (1); Risa Pollock (2) and Hanna Stemen (2).<\/p>\n

On Monday, July 1, the Marlins traveled to Lima Shawnee Country Club for their regular season finale.\u00a0 The Marlins dropped the meet to a very tough Shawnee squad to end the season at 2-5.<\/p>\n

The Marlins will next travel to Bluffton to compete in the WOAL Championships on Friday, July 12.\u00a0 One of the season\u2019s highlights was the success of 8 & Under Girls\u2019 swimmer Tyra McClain and 13-14 Boys\u2019 swimmer Sam Easley, who won all of their league play individual events.<\/p>\n

At Shawnee, those winning all five of their individual events were Easley and Dylan Neate.\u00a0 Also winning at least one event were: Emma Pollock (4); Jamie Burenga (2); Daniel Miller (1); Katie McVaigh (1); Aaron Stant (2) and Bethany Fast (1).<\/p>\n
