Most notably, the Midwest and Great Lakes region have seen the steepest increases, with many of those states recording 10-cent increases (or more) in just the last week.<\/p>\n<p><a title=\"MGN Online graphic\" rel=\"https:\/\/thevwindependent.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/09\/Gasoline-price-graphic-8-2012.jpg\" href=\"https:\/\/thevwindependent.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/09\/Gasoline-price-graphic-8-2012.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-28382\" style=\"border: 1px solid black\" src=\"https:\/\/thevwindependent.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/09\/Gasoline-price-graphic-8-2012.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"250\" height=\"188\" \/><\/a>\u201cWith NYMEX crude oil over $105 per barrel today and with concerns about who\u2019s running the government in Egypt and the security of the Suez Canal, it\u2019s not surprising that we\u2019re seeing wholesale and retail gasoline prices rise,\u201d said Patrick DeHaan, senior petroleum analyst with GasBuddy.<\/p>\n<p>The key question, he added, is: \u2018How long will the run-up in crude oil last?\u2019<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhat\u2019s even more troubling is that the Department of Energy\u2019s weekly report today showed the second consecutive week with exceptional declines in crude oil (9.9 million barrels this week) inventory, totaling a 20 million barrel decline in the past two weeks,\u201d he added. \u00a0\u201cSo there\u2019s no getting around the fact that prices go up when supply diminishes.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe future looks dim again for motorists as oil prices have risen $10 per barrel in just the last two weeks.
