Kleinhenz is a retired first grade teacher who taught in the Van Wert City School District.<\/p>\n<p>The students learned about safety topics such as \u201cSafety at Play\u201d, \u201cBullying\u201d (getting along with others), \u201cTaste Only What\u2019s Safe\u201d, \u201cStranger Safety\u201d, \u201cGood Touch-Bad Touch\u201d and \u201cWhy Rules are Important\u201d.\u00a0 The class is taught in half-hour sessions once a week for six weeks. Each student receives literature about different safety issues and a Certificate of Completion.<\/p>\n<p>Safe and Secure will be presented again in the fall for area first grade classes interested in this program.\u00a0 The Safe and Secure program received a grant from The Van Wert County Foundation, while Buckeye Youth is a United Way agency.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Information submitted Deb Kleinhenz recently presented Safe and Secure sessions to first graders at Van Wert Elementary School and Lincolnview Elementary School.
