Steele on the third-degree felony charge, which had been downgraded from a felony of the second degree in exchange for her guilty plea. Wilder\u2019s sentence will also run consecutive (on top of) a prison sentence handed down in Paulding County that she is currently serving.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_41428\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-41428\" style=\"width: 200px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.thevwindependent.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/08\/CP-Court-file-photo-Peffley.jpg\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-41428 \" style=\"border: 1px solid black\" alt=\"Matthew Peffley from an earlier hearing in Van Wert County Common Pleas Court. (VW independent file photo)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Also sentenced was Thomas Hathaway, 29, of Grand Rapids, Mich., who received three years of community control on a charge of breaking and entering, a fifth-degree felony offense. Hathaway\u2019s community control sentence will begin following his release from a Michigan prison. He must also pay restitution totaling $9,531.85 to Family Video in connection with the break-in of that business.<\/p>\n<p>Following his sentencing hearing, Hathaway was transported back to Michigan to serve out his prison term.<\/p>\n<p>Four people also changed their pleas to guilty on a variety of charges. They include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Matthew Peffley, 38, of Van Wert, entered a plea of guilty to a charge of unlawful sexual conduct with a minor, a felony of the second degree. Two other counts of the same charge were dismissed in exchange for Peffley\u2019s guilty plea. A presentence investigation was ordered and sentencing set for 9 a.m. Wednesday, August 28.<\/li>\n<li>Joshua Watson, 21, of Delphos, pleaded guilty to a charge of theft, a felony of the fifth degree. Two other theft counts were dismissed in exchange for his guilty plea on the first count. A presentence investigation was ordered and he will appear for sentencing at 9 a.m. August 28.<\/li>\n<li>Drew Kenny, 20, of Van Wert, entered a guilty plea to a charge of possession of drugs, a fifth-degree felony offense. He then requested, and was granted, treatment in lieu of conviction and his case was stayed pending successful completion of his treatment program.<\/li>\n<li>Tracy Vincent, 50, of Willshire, changed her plea to no contest to three charges: attempting to corrupt another with drugs, a felony of the third degree; and one count each of possession of cocaine and permitting drug abuse, both fifth-degree felony offenses. A presentence investigation was ordered and sentencing set for 9 a.m. Friday, August 23.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><!--more-->Four people also appeared in Common Pleas Court on Wednesday for probation and bond violation hearings. They include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Kristina Diltz, 33, of Van Wert, admitted to violating her probation by not reporting an arrest in Allen County and not reporting to her probation officer. The hearing was continued until after the Allen County case is resolved.<\/li>\n<li>Jeffrey Craft, 29, of Van Wert, admitted to violating his probation by not paying child support and not reporting to his probation officer. He was resentenced to three years of community control, with the added stipulation that he serves up to six months in the Western Ohio Regional Treatment and Habilitation (WORTH) Center in Lima.<\/li>\n<li>Jeremy Baer, 30, of Van Wert, denied several probation violation allegations and a hearing will be held on the matter.<\/li>\n<li>Amber Baker, 23, of Van Wert, admitted to violating her personal surety bond by testing positive for heroin and THC.
