MARYS &#8212; Members of Midwest Electric Inc. recently donated $12,240 to 15 west-central Ohio charities and community projects through the cooperative\u2019s Community Connection Fund.<\/p>\n<p>Since the program began in 1998, the Midwest Electric Community Connection Fund has provided $767,423 to 595 area projects.<\/p>\n<p>The recent fund recipients include the following:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<figure id=\"attachment_41602\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-41602\" style=\"width: 264px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.thevwindependent.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/08\/Midwest-Electric-donations-8-2013-DARE.jpg\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-41602 \" style=\"border: 1px solid black\" alt=\"Van Wert County DARE Officer Keith Allen accepts a $500 donation from Richard Berkenstock, trustee of the Midwest Electric Community Connection Fund, to help with the annual DARE summer camp. (Midwest Electric photos)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Columbus Grove Fire Department, $2,000 to buy a carbon monoxide detector.<\/li>\n<li>Lima Noon Optimists, $1,500 towards the renovations of &#8220;Safety City.&#8221;<\/li>\n<li>Spencerville Bearcat Strength &amp; Training Facility, $1,500 towards the new facility.<\/li>\n<li>Celina City Schools Band Boosters, $1,000 to help buy new uniforms.<\/li>\n<li>St. Henry American Legion Post 648, $840 to buy all-weather coats for the color guard.<\/li>\n<li>Van Wert County YMCA, $750 to buy life jackets for Camp Clay.<\/li>\n<li>Our Daily Bread Soup Kitchen, Lima, $750 to buy garden tools.<\/li>\n<li>Miracle Meal, Inc., Wapakoneta, $750 to buy Christmas gifts for area needy children.<\/li>\n<li>Van Wert County DARE, $500 to help with summer camp.<\/li>\n<li>Rally Point Youth Center, Lima, $500 to buy supplies for the after school program.<\/li>\n<li>Lima Symphony Orchestra, $500 to help support the Young People\u2019s Concert for area schoolchildren.<\/li>\n<li>Children\u2019s Hometown Holiday, Wapakoneta, $500 towards the skating rink at the annual event.<\/li>\n<li>Lock One Community Arts, New Bremen, $500 to support live theater performances for K-2 students.<\/li>\n<li>Laker Learning Academy, Wright State University-Lake Campus, $450 to buy education materials.<\/li>\n<li>Putnam County Council on Aging, $200 to buy a GPS unit.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The Midwest Electric Community Connection Fund is a voluntary charitable program.
