It wasn\u2019t pretty, but the Van Wert Cougar golfers downed a struggling Ottawa-Glandorf team 180-190 in their 2013 Western Buckeye League opener on Monday.<\/p>\n
Van Wert has been plagued with inconsistency all year long and Monday was no different.<\/p>\n
“The team score of 180 at home is not the kind of score that will get us very far as a team,\u201d said Van Wert Coach Jeff Hood. \u201cI know we can do better.”<\/p>\n
The Cougars were led by Adam Jurczyk\u2019s 42, while Lucas Etzler added a 43, Justin Price shot a 47, Brandon Hernandez a 48, Alex Miller a 52 and Nick Etter carded a 55.<\/p>\n
“It was nice to have Adam Jurczyk back in the lineup,\u201d Hood added. \u201cHis 42 was big for us today.”<\/p>\n
Medalist for the match was Carson Williams of O-G, who shot a very fine one-over-par 36.<\/p>\n
With the win, Van Wert moves to 1-1 overall and 1-0 in the WBL, while the Titans are 0-2 and 0-1 in the league.<\/p>\n
