The Cougar girls\u2019 tennis team lost a hard fought match to Lima Central Catholic Tuesday evening by a score of 3-2.<\/p>\n
Ali Moreland picked up a great win at first singles 6-4, 6-4.<\/p>\n
“I felt that Ali played her best match of the season, beating a very strong opponent at the first singles position,\u201d said Van Wert Coach Chuck Rollins.\u00a0\u201cThat was a huge win for Ali and should really give her a lot of confidence going forward.”<\/p>\n
Claire Butler also had a big win at No. 3 singles, displaying a dominant performance to win in straight sets 6-4, 6-0.<\/p>\n
“I think that third singles is going to be a very strong position for us with Claire holding down that spot,” Rollins said.<\/p>\n
Individual match results<\/p>\n
No. 1 singles \u2013 Van Wert\u2019s Ali Moreland defeated Paige Collins 6-4, 6-4<\/p>\n
No. 2 singles \u2013 Van Wert\u2019s Sydney Dull lost to Liz Kidd 6-1, 6-0<\/p>\n
No. 3 singles \u2013 Van Wert\u2019s Claire Butler defeated Emily Janowski 6-4, 6-0<\/p>\n
No. 1 doubles \u2013 Van Wert\u2019s Hannah Stemen and Sydney Felger lost to Kacey Bradshaw and Allison Hullinger 6-2, 6-1<\/p>\n
No. 2 doubles \u2013 Van Wert\u2019s Tabatha Tennie and Kali Agler lost to Natalie Patricia-Agosto and Olivia Stanley 6-0, 6-0.<\/p>\n
LCC is now 4-0 on the year, while Van Wert falls to 1-2 on the season.<\/p>\n
The junior varsity doubles team of Angela Li and Liz Lassiter lost to LCC\u2019s Samantha Stallkamp and Meredith Bruno 6-1, 6-0, while a JV match between Van Wert\u2019s Valerie Barnhart and Jessie Agler and LCC\u2019s Shelby Young and Elizabeth Hannah was suspended with the score 5-4.<\/p>\n
