{"id":43995,"date":"2013-10-10T04:40:21","date_gmt":"2013-10-10T09:40:21","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thevwindependent.com\/news\/?p=43995"},"modified":"2013-10-10T04:40:21","modified_gmt":"2013-10-10T09:40:21","slug":"chp-to-offer-high-dose-flu-shots","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thevwindependent.com\/news\/2013\/10\/10\/chp-to-offer-high-dose-flu-shots\/","title":{"rendered":"CHP to offer high-dose flu shots"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><i>Community Health Professionals info<\/i><\/p>\n<p>Community Health Professionals of Van Wert is offering high-dose flu shots to seniors daily Monday-Friday, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., beginning this coming Monday at its 1159 Westwood Drive office.<\/p>\n<p>The high-dose vaccine designed specifically for people 65 years and older, has four times the amount of antigen as a regular flu shot and is intended to give older people a stronger immune response and better protection against flu.<\/p>\n<p>The CDC has\u00a0approved\u00a0high-dose flu vaccine for use in seniors only and is <i>not<\/i> recommended for those who have reacted\u00a0negatively to the flu vaccine in the past.<\/p>\n<p>Medicare Part B covers the high-dose vaccine.<\/p>\n<p>CHP in Van Wert will only be offering high-dose flu shots this flu season.
