Thomas Edison Preschool information<\/i><\/p>\n

On October 9-10, preschool students at Thomas Edison Early Childhood Center were dancing, singing, and learning to music!\u00a0 Diana Lesjak, a retired preschool Teacher and grandmother to one of the Thomas Edison Preschool students, came to the school to share her talents and passion for teaching with music.<\/p>\n

The students loved the program and were engaged during the entire 45-minute class. Lesjak gave the teachers a CD of the songs she used with the students, plus several other songs she has used in the past. The students have been asking for the songs and love singing them again in the classroom!<\/p>\n

All of the songs focus on one or multiple areas of development in young children ages 3-5. The songs also focus on and help teach the Developmental Learning Standards for this age group.<\/p>\n

For the song \u201cFive Little Skunks\u201d the students practiced counting to five and counting backwards from five and used their fingers to act out the song. By doing this, the children worked on strengthening the small muscles in their hands and fingers.<\/p>\n

During the song \u201cThe Alphabet\u2019s in my Mouth\u201d, the students worked on recognizing each letter of the alphabet and saying the sound with the letter. Many of the songs focused on the large muscles in their bodies. The students pretended to be fish, sharks, whales, bunny rabbits, and even used scarves to fly like a super hero.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
