{"id":4446,"date":"2011-03-09T14:22:01","date_gmt":"2011-03-09T19:22:01","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thevwindependent.com\/?p=4446"},"modified":"2011-03-09T14:22:01","modified_gmt":"2011-03-09T19:22:01","slug":"wassenberg-camera-club-news-3911","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thevwindependent.com\/news\/2011\/03\/09\/wassenberg-camera-club-news-3911\/","title":{"rendered":"Wassenberg Camera Club News 3\/9\/11"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>By Rex Dolby<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_4447\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-4447\" style=\"width: 545px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.thevwindependent.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/03\/Hotel-Coronado.jpg\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-4447 \" style=\"border: 1px solid black\" src=\"https:\/\/www.thevwindependent.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/03\/Hotel-Coronado.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"545\" height=\"409\" \/><\/a><\/strong><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-4447\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Hotel Coronado<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Camera Club will meet Thursday, March 10, at 7 p.m.\u00a0at the  Wassenberg Art Center on South Washington St.\u00a0 Geometric Shapes will be  the theme for competition in prints and slides.<\/p>\n<p>Lines are a  good source geometric shapes.\u00a0 We can start with triangles, move to the  quadrilaterals, and end up with all the polygons.\u00a0 Then too, we can  start with arcs, arbelos curves, crescents, ovals, ellipses,\u00a0and end  with the\u00a0circle.<\/p>\n<p>Moving to the solid shapes, we find the prisms, polyhedrons, toruses, cones, pyramids,\u00a0cylinders, and\u00a0spheres.<\/p>\n<p>The trick now is to develop the eye to find these groups in real life.\u00a0  Architecture and design will be\u00a0good sources of both lines and solids.\u00a0  Buildings, bridges, and towers will provide many such opportunities.\u00a0 A  great source for curves\u00a0lies in the design of all types of vehicles,  aircraft, and boats,\u00a0and their parts.\u00a0 Swimming pools also exhibit a  variety of curves, not to mention the plant world with its stems, leaves  and blossoms.<\/p>\n<p>With all potential images that will no doubt be entered, it should be a great night\u00a0of competition.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>By Rex Dolby The Camera Club will meet Thursday, March 10, at 7 p.m.\u00a0at the Wassenberg Art Center on South Washington St.\u00a0 Geometric Shapes will be the theme for competition in prints and slides.
