In social studies, the fourth grade<br \/>\nstudents put puzzles cut from maps together. This organization assists many<br \/>\nlocal people who have need and are crisis situations. During February the focus of health class was having a healthy heart.<\/p>\n<p>Students studied heart risk factors such as smoking, junk foods, and genetics.<br \/>\nThey also studied how exercise and healthy eating can reduce the risk of a<br \/>\nheart attack. Kathy Schaadt, RN and volunteer, helped the class dissect<br \/>\na cow heart. Students learned the path of blood through the heart by walking<br \/>\nthrough a large model on the classroom floor.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.thevwindependent.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/03\/3-9-11-rr-effort-award.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-4459\" style=\"border: 1px solid black\" src=\"https:\/\/www.thevwindependent.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/03\/3-9-11-rr-effort-award.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"545\" height=\"409\" \/><\/a><br \/>\nEffort was a recent LIFE Skill word. Effort is defined as giving your best<br \/>\nin any situation \u0096 important any time but especially when school is canceled and it is hard to keep up with everything.
