Gordon, 24, of New Haven, Ind., was killed shortly after 6 a.m. Wednesday when he lost control of his 1998 Ford Contour while driving east on Van Wert-Paulding County Line Road, just west of Ohio 49 <em>(see obituary on the Obituary Page)<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>According to deputies, Gordon\u2019s car went off the right side of the road and hit a mailbox, Gordon then veered back onto the roadway, but then went off the right side of the roadway again, where the car went into a skid, struck a ditch and overturned.<\/p>\n<p>Gordon was trapped inside the vehicle and had to be extricated by first responders using the jaws of life. The young man was pronounced dead by the Van Wert County Coroner\u2019s Office and transported from the scene by Brickner\u2019s Ambulance Service.<\/p>\n<p>Gordon was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash and alcohol is not believed to be a factor in the accident.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Van Wert County Sheriff\u2019s Office information A Payne native was killed Wednesday morning in a single-car accident that occurred on the Van Wert-Paulding County Line Road.
