(Jan Dunlap\/Van Wert independent)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The Van Wert Lady Cougars started slow, but got their offense going in the second quarter to handle the Lincolnview girls 54-38 in a non-conference basketball game played on Saturday.<\/p>\n<p>Erin Morrow scored 17 points and Alexis Dowdy added 11 more to lead the Cougars, who are now 10-2 on the year. Lincolnview is 4-8 overall. Lincolnview was led by Julia Thatcher\u2019s 14 points, while Ashton Bowersock added 11 points.<\/p>\n<p>The teams were tied at 9 apiece at the end of the first quarter, but Van Wert outscored the Lancers 17-7 in the second period to go up by 10, 26-16, at the half.<\/p>\n<p>The Cougars extended their lead to 13 with a 9-6 run in the third quarter and outscored Lincolnview 19-16 in the final period to get the win.<\/p>\n<p>Van Wert shot well from the field, knocking down 19 of 36 field goal attempts (52 percent) \u2013 including 5 of 11 from three-point range &#8212; but the Lady Cougars only hit half of their free throws (11 of 22).
