YMCA of Van Wert County information<\/i><\/p>\n
FORT WAYNE, Ind. — The YMCA of Van Wert County is partnering with the Fort Wayne, Ind., Mad Ants for Van Wert YMCA Mad Ants Night on Saturday, February 22, at 7:30 p.m., at the Memorial Coliseum.\u00a0 Those who buy tickets for this game through the Y or by calling Garrett Martz at the Mad Ants Office at 260.469.4667, extension 107, will get discounted tickets: $8 for Upper Level Sideline and $15 for Lower Level; and a free basketball clinic with Mad Ants players and coaches on Wednesday, January 29, from 6-7 p.m., at the YMCA of Van Wert County.\u00a0 A portion of each ticket sold will also be contributed back to the Van Wert YMCA.<\/p>\n
The free basketball clinic for those who buy tickets will be held for ages 4-12 years old. The Mad Ants coaching staff and players will run Y-ball players through a series of basketball drills and be available for autographs\/pictures afterward.<\/p>\n
Tony Mitchell, a star player for the Mad Ants, will be running the clinic.<\/p>\n
Mitchell, a 6-6 forward out of Alabama, was a key player for the Mad Ants during the 2012-13 season, averaging 21.9 points, 6.4 rebounds, 2.7 assists and 1.4 steals over 48 regular season games with the team. He recorded his career high 49 points in a 125-112 win against the Sioux Falls Skyforce on April 5, 2013.<\/p>\n
Following the 2012-13 season, Mitchell was named to the All D-League FirstTeam, All-Rookie First Team and was named the 2013 NBA D-League \u201cRookie of the Year\u201d. He earned a spot on the 2013 NBA D-League All-Star Team and was named slam dunk champion during the 2013 NBA D-League All-Star Weekend.<\/p>\n
