The Van Wert County Board of Commissioners recently got some unexpected support for their economic development efforts.<\/p>\n
According to Commissioner Thad Lichtensteiger, the Van Wert County Township Association\u2019s Executive Committee unanimously adopted a resolution supporting the commissioners \u201cin their endeavors to secure and maintain an effective, working economic development program for Van Wert County.\u201d<\/p>\n
Lichtensteiger said he first heard about the unsolicited resolution from Township Association President Jeff Harmon.<\/p>\n
\u201c(Harmon) called me when were having some discussions about the direction of economic development and asked if they could give us a resolution endorsing our position on economic development,\u201d Lichtensteiger noted, adding, \u201cIt\u2019s nice to get some affirmation, especially from a credible source like this.\u201d<\/p>\n
The county commissioner said it was a nice gesture from a group that has not always seen eye-to-eye with the commissioners on past issues.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe were flattered that they would lend us their support,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n
Although the resolution includes the normal verbiage, the township trustees noted in the document that: \u201cthe Van Wert County Commissioners are implementing initiatives to build a strong and viable economic development plan that will attract new industry, as well as enable local companies and industry to invest in growth and expansion in Van Wert County.\u201d<\/p>\n
