Ayersville won its Division IV district semifinal game against Edgerton, 57-35, at Van Wert on Tuesday.<\/p>\n
The Pilots got a big jump in the first quarter, scoring 13 points, while holding Edgerton to just two points in the period.<\/p>\n
The Bulldogs outscored Ayersville in the second quarter, but could only gain a point to trail by 10 points, 22-12, at the half.<\/p>\n
The Pilots got another big quarter in the third, going on a 18-7 run to lead by 21 points, 40-19, heading into the final period of play. Ayersville was able to maintain its advantage with an 18-17 run in the final quarter and the district semifinal victory.<\/p>\n
Dawson Dales led the Pilots with 20 points, while Luke Lawson scored 12 points and Brayton Martin added 10 points for Ayersville, Michael led the Bulldogs with 12 points, while Duane Miller added 8 for Edgerton.<\/p>\n
In the other Division IV district semifinal at Van Wert, Wayne Trace defeated Pettisville 47-37 in a wild scramble for the other district finals berth.<\/p>\n
The Raiders led 10-6 at the end of the first quarter, but the Blackbirds outscored Wayne Trace 12-8 in the second period to tie the game at 18-all at the half.<\/p>\n
The third quarter was the crucial one, as the Raiders got out to an eight-point advantage with a 13-5 run and then held on for the 10-point final margin of victory.<\/p>\n
