{"id":49757,"date":"2014-03-21T00:21:39","date_gmt":"2014-03-21T05:21:39","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thevwindependent.com\/news\/?p=49757"},"modified":"2014-03-21T00:23:02","modified_gmt":"2014-03-21T05:23:02","slug":"ohio-housing-sales-decline-in-february","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thevwindependent.com\/news\/2014\/03\/21\/ohio-housing-sales-decline-in-february\/","title":{"rendered":"Ohio housing sales decline in February"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><i>Ohio Association of Realtors information<\/i><\/p>\n<p>The number of homes sold across Ohio in February fell 4.3 percent from the level posted during the month a year ago, according to the Ohio Association of Realtors.<\/p>\n<p>Home sales activity in February fell 2.9 percent from the level reached in January 2014.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cExtreme winter conditions played a role in cooling homes sales activity throughout Ohio, as our level of activity slid slightly for the second consecutive month,\u201d said Chris Hall, president of the Ohio Association of Realtors. \u201cA survey of the state\u2019s real estate professionals conducted during the month found that two-thirds of respondents indicated that the cold, snowy conditions resulted in a marked decline in home buying activity.<\/p>\n<p><a title=\"MGN Online graphic\" href=\"https:\/\/www.thevwindependent.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/01\/Housing-Market-artwork-8-2012.jpg\" rel=\"https:\/\/www.thevwindependent.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/01\/Housing-Market-artwork-8-2012.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-34213\" style=\"border: 1px solid black;\" alt=\"Housing Market artwork 8-2012\" src=\"https:\/\/www.thevwindependent.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/01\/Housing-Market-artwork-8-2012.jpg\" width=\"250\" height=\"188\" \/><\/a>\u201cAdditionally, it\u2019s apparent that the marketplace, as a whole, is becoming more balanced following an unprecedented streak of 30 months of year-over-year gains. The ongoing stabilization of the state\u2019s housing sector will result in traditional ebbs and flows in activity.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>February\u2019s average home price of $130,082 reflects a 4 percent increase from the $125,061 mark posted during the same month last year.<\/p>\n<p>Sales in February reached a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 116,636, a 4.3 percent decrease from the 121,880 level during the month a year ago. The market also experienced a 2.9 percent decline in sales from January\u2019s upwardly revised, seasonally adjusted annual rate of 120,119.<\/p>\n<p>Around the state, 16 of the 20 markets tracked reported declines in sales activity levels. The average sales price increased in 14 markets.<\/p>\n<p>Data provided to OAR by Multiple Listing Services includes residential closings for new and existing single-family homes and condominiums\/co-ops.
