CONVOY — Two Crestview High School senior athletes are heading for the next level of competition, as each signed letters of intent to play for Ohio colleges.<\/p>\n

Kirsten Hicks, who lettered all four years of high school in each of three sports \u2013 basketball, volleyball, and softball \u2013 signed a letter of intent Friday to play softball for the University of Northwest Ohio.<\/p>\n

Hicks said she liked the idea that UNOH was close and was smaller, something she was also looking for.<\/p>\n

\u201cAll the other schools I was looking at were bigger,\u201d Hicks said. \u201cI like the community feel at UNOH.\u201d<\/p>\n

Hicks should be a big asset to the young Lady Racer team, since she has lots of experience playing for a top-caliber softball program.<\/p>\n

Coach Carl Etzler praised Hicks for her dedication, noting she \u201calways gives 100 percent\u201d on the field and off.<\/p>\n

Hicks was a Second Team All-Ohio selection in softball in 2013 and also a starter on Crestview\u2019s Division IV state champion softball team in 2012.<\/p>\n

UNOH also fits in with Hicks\u2019 academic plans. She plans to major in healthcare administration at the school.<\/p>\n

Scott Miller also chose Friday to sign his letter of intent to play football for Wilmington College. Miller, who plans to major in agribusiness, said Wilmington was a good fit for him, since it\u2019s small and the football team is in a rebuilding year, which should allow him to make a contribution from the start.<\/p>\n

Making a contribution is something Miller knows a lot about, according to Crestview Head Coach Jared Owens.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe\u2019s a two-year captain and a full-time leader,\u201d Owens said. \u201cSince he\u2019s been in our program, nobody works harder in the weight room or in the classroom.\u201d<\/p>\n

Miller also earned state honors with a Third Team All-Ohio selection in football.<\/p>\n
