Midwest Electric information<\/i><\/p>\n

ST. MARYS — Members of Midwest Electric recently donated $13,700 to 16 west-central Ohio charities and community projects through the cooperative\u2019s Community Connection Fund.<\/p>\n

Since the program began in 1998, the Midwest Electric Community Connection Fund has provided $809,323 to 637 area projects.<\/p>\n

The recent Fund recipients include the following:<\/p>\n

  • State of the Heart Hospice, $2,000 to sponsor children attending Camp BEARable bereavement camp.<\/li>\n
  • Mercy Unlimited, Wapakoneta, $1,500 to buy a commercial freezer for the food pantry.<\/li>\n
  • Spencerville Local Schools, $1,500 to purchase trauma kits and AED units for a triage program.<\/li>\n
  • American Township Fire Department, $1,500 to buy CPR manikins and defibrillator trainers.<\/li>\n
  • Coldwater Fire Department, $1,000 to help purchase SCUBA equipment.<\/li>\n
  • 4-H Camp Palmer, $1,000 towards a new swimming pool.<\/li>\n
  • Inter-Faith Thrift Shop, Delphos, $1,000 towards a new furnace.<\/li>\n
  • Van Wert County Council on Aging, $750 to buy lawn equipment for the Chore Services program.<\/li>\n
  • Fort Recovery Public Preschool, $700 to help purchase the Creative Curriculum materials.<\/li>\n
  • Western Ohio Educational Foundation, $500 towards the Academic Excellence scholarship program at Wright State University – Lake Campus.<\/li>\n
  • Niswonger Performing Arts Center, $500 to help underwrite the speaker \/ lecture series.<\/li>\n
  • OUR Home Family Resource Center, Celina, $450 to buy a security entrance keypad.<\/li>\n
  • Van Wert County Fair, $400 to support Gospel singing groups at the county Fair.<\/li>\n
  • Auglaize County Fair Gospel Tent, $400 to support Gospel singing groups at the county Fair.<\/li>\n
  • Riverside Art Center, Wapakoneta, $300 to upgrade the sound system.<\/li>\n
  • Delphos Canal Commission, $200 to help buy a computer.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    The Midwest Electric Community Connection Fund is a voluntary charitable program. Participating members\u2019 monthly electric bills are rounded up to the next dollar, with the additional pennies deposited in the Fund.<\/p>\n

    A Board of Trustees, composed of cooperative members and separate from the Midwest Electric Board of Trustees, oversees the application and allocation process.<\/p>\n
