We were thrilled to celebrate Every Kid Healthy\u2122 Week<\/i> with Action for Healthy Kids and other organizations dedicated to children\u2019s health and academic success, along with some more than 500 other schools around the country.<\/p>\n

Launched by Action for Healthy Kids\u00ae (AFHK) in 2013, Every Kid Healthy Week is an annual observance shared by AFHK\u2019s network of schools, partner organizations and volunteers as part of a national movement to create healthier school environments for kids.<\/p>\n

Formally observed the last week of April, this special week \u2013 which is recognized on the calendar of National Health Observances, provides an opportunity for Lincolnview to celebrate our contributions to students\u2019 health and wellness. Locally, as a winner of the Zone 2 Ohio Action for Healthy Kids Every Kid Healthy Week Challenge<\/i>, Lincolnview <\/i>received a banner, $100 towards school wellness programming, and a cooking demo for students during the lunch hour, to be scheduled in May.<\/p>\n

At Lincolnview we\u2019re working to do our part to put our students on a healthier path by doing a Fruit and Vegetable Challenge in the elementary and also a taste testing of fruits and vegetables during lunch.\u00a0 <\/i>We\u2019re also taking the Every Kid Healthy Pledge<\/a> to get the information and free resources we need to create healthier school environments for kids. Your family can take the Pledge too!<\/p>\n

Decorating is well underway for the prom, which is this Saturday, May 3. \u00a0This year’s theme is Lancer Hallow. \u00a0All juniors are encouraged to help on Thursday after school until 10 p.m. \u00a0Those who sold their quota of Blue Crew shirts or paid their class dues will be excused from classes on Friday to decorate.\u00a0Promenade will be from 7:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. in the high school gym. \u00a0Prom is from 8 p.m. until 11:30 p.m. \u00a0 The prom is free for the seniors; all others pay $10 at the door. \u00a0This year\u2019s after prom will be at the YMCA. \u00a0Tickets MUST be purchased ahead of time for the after prom this year. \u00a0The cost is $3 per ticket. \u00a0The Optimist Club is once again generously sponsoring this event. \u00a0There will be pizza and pop as well as raffle prizes. \u00a0Activities will include swimming, a movie, plus volleyball and basketball tournaments.<\/p>\n

The sophomore class is scheduled to clean up prom on Sunday, May 4 beginning at 2 p.m. \u00a0ALL members of the class have been asked to help. \u00a0Trucks and trailers are needed to transport items from the school to the bus barn. \u00a0When clean-up is complete, pizza and pop will be provided for everyone who participates.<\/p>\n

The Student Council will also be holding their annual Talent Show on May 8 at 1 p.m. (not 10 p.m. as was mistakenly printed). If you have a talent you would like to showcase, you can sign up in the high school office.<\/p>\n
