(Dave Mosier\/Van Wert independent)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The project, Phase II of a multi-phase expansion of the former Lincolnway Home facility, is on schedule and scheduled for completion in mid-August, according to Ridgeview Administrator Pat Tracy, who gave the commissioners a tour of the construction project on Thursday.<\/p>\n<p>Ground was broken January 28 for the project, which is expected to double the number of beds in the facility from 40 to 80 and also add approximately 200 additional jobs to the 155 currently employed at the in-house, short-term mental health and substance abuse intervention facility.<\/p>\n<p>Tracy said he was very pleased with the cooperation the commissioners, County Economic Development Director Sarah Smith and Ridge Township trustees have given the company on both of its expansion projects.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI can\u2019t say enough about the assistance we have received from both the commissioners and trustees,\u201d Tracy noted.<\/p>\n<p>A number of area contractors have been working on the expansion project, including Ayers Mechanical Group LLC, VTF Excavating LLC, 5 Angle Construction Inc., Midwest Commercial Millwork Inc., McBride Bros. Inc., Metzger Construction Inc., T&amp;D Interiors Inc., Elwer Fence, Engelhardt Landscaping Inc., Bluffton Paving Inc. and Albert Freytag Inc.<\/p>\n<p><!--more-->Tracy said he was initially surprised at the level of need for mental health and substance abuse treatment in such a relatively small county when he first came to Van Wert from Florida to oversee Ridgeview.<\/p>\n<p>In addition to local patients, Ridgeview\u2019s patients come from Toledo and other Ohio communities, as well as from outside the state.<\/p>\n<p>Tracy also said Ridgeview has tried to be a good corporate neighbor to its community, refusing to take $43,000 in offered tax abatements, disbursing that money to a number of local agencies, including Vantage Career Center, Lincolnview Local Schools, Ridge Township, county government and several other local organizations.<\/p>\n<p>The hospital is accredited by the Ohio Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services and The Joint Commission, a hospital-accreditation agency, and is staffed 24\/7 by physicians, therapists, nursing staff and administrative staff.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>DAVE MOSIER\/independent editor Van Wert County Commissioners Todd Wolfrum and Thad Lichtensteiger got a chance to view progress Thursday on a $2.5 million expansion project by Ridgeview Behavioral Hospital at the former county home site on Lincoln Highway.
