VW County Fair Board information<\/i><\/p>\n

The Van Wert County Fair will offer fairgoers an improved selection of free entertainment this year. The free entertainment is supported by a grant from the Van Wert County Foundation, as well as sponsorships and an annual fundraising auction.<\/p>\n

This year’s auction will be held today at 10 a.m., with doors opening at 9 this morning at the Junior Fair Building. Bee Gee Realty & Auction Company is again donating its services to promote and conduct the auction.
\nAll proceeds from the auctions are used to fund selection of entertainment, with no charge to view or attend during the Van Wert County Fair. Free entertainment includes a wood carver, Bruiser Wrestling, kiddie tractor pull and events and performers in the entertainment tent.<\/p>\n

The auction this Saturday features unique items and not the usual selection of household items, furniture, antiques, etc. The items to be auctioned are all donated by businesses, individuals and organizations. The donations come from the local area, as well as from all over the nation. There will be a nice selection of gift certificates and gift cards that make good gifts or for personal use. There will be a variety of sports items and celebrity memorabilia including equipment, photos, CDs, promo CDs, tickets to sporting events and theatrical performances, and amusement tickets. This is a chance to obtain new merchandise for a fraction of the retail price.<\/p>\n

Another unique group of items that will be available, also making good gifts for family and friends, are vacation and excursion trips. Agents offer the trips at a minimum starting price and the price Bee Gee bangs the gavel at represents a donation to the auction proceeds. This year’s fair dates are Wednesday, August 27, through Monday, September 1.
