{"id":51865,"date":"2014-05-19T07:31:41","date_gmt":"2014-05-19T12:31:41","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thevwindependent.com\/news\/?p=51865"},"modified":"2014-05-19T07:31:41","modified_gmt":"2014-05-19T12:31:41","slug":"lancer-boys-4th-girls-8th-at-nwc-meet","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thevwindependent.com\/news\/2014\/05\/19\/lancer-boys-4th-girls-8th-at-nwc-meet\/","title":{"rendered":"Lancer boys 4th, girls 8th at NWC meet"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><i>Lincolnview track &amp; field information<\/i><\/p>\n<p>SPENCERVILLE &#8212; The Lincolnview Track teams competed in the Northwest Conference Track &amp; Field Championships this past weekend.\u00a0The boys team placed fourth overall and the girls team placed eighth.\u00a0The Lancers\u2019 day was highlighted by two school records and three individual NWC champions.<\/p>\n<p>The first champion was Hannah McCleery in the high jump. McCleery had a jump of 5 feet, 1 inches before making two attempts at 5 feet, 3 inches, that were nearly successful. The second NWC winner was Bayley Tow in the 1600-meter run.\u00a0Tow easily won his race in a time of 4:28 to break his own school record that he set at the regional meet last season on his way to qualifying for the state meet.<\/p>\n<p>The final champion came in the 300-meter hurdles when Hunter Blankemeyer won the race in 40.9 seconds.<\/p>\n<p>The boys 4&#215;100-meter relay team, running together for the first time this season, placed second and tied the school record in a time of 45.4 seconds.\u00a0Other NWC runner-up finishes included Blankemeyer in the 110-meter hurdles (15.3 seconds), Tow in the 3200-meter run (10:05), and the boys 4&#215;800-meter relay (Bilimek, Neate, Rodriguez, Tow).<\/p>\n<p>Anna Gorman took third in both the 1600-meter and the 3200-meter runs, while\u00a0Austin Sealscott tied with Blankemeyer for fourth in the high jump.\u00a0Michael Garay placed fifth in both the 100-meter dash and the 200-meter dash, while Alex Rodriguez was fifth in the 3200-meter run, Logan Jewel placed seventh in the 100-meter dash, Trevor Neate was seventh in the 800-meter run, and Ben Bilimek placed seventh in the 1600-meter run.<\/p>\n<p>The girls- 4&#215;800-meter relay placed fifth (Bowersock, Stemen, Wendel, Gorman).<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI was really pleased with how the kids performed,\u201d said Lincolnview Coach Matt Langdon. \u201cThey prepared well and were able to put together some great performances.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHaving conference champions and school records all at the same meet makes it special,\u201d he added.\u00a0\u201cWe are looking forward to doing even better next week as we start the tournament.\u00a0I liked how we competed and how we prepared for each event.\u00a0 It showed that the kids really care about doing their best.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Lincolnview track &amp; field information SPENCERVILLE &#8212; The Lincolnview Track teams competed in the Northwest Conference Track &amp; Field Championships this past weekend.\u00a0The boys team placed fourth overall and the girls team placed eighth.\u00a0The Lancers\u2019 day was highlighted by two school records and three individual NWC champions.
