Ohio Attorney General\u2019s information<\/i><\/p>\n
COLUMBUS — Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine has announced that he is extending the deadline for the Ohio Attorney General\u2019s Moving Ohio Forward demolition grant program.\u00a0 The deadline to complete demolitions to receive funding was May 31 and will now be extended to September 30.<\/p>\n
\u201cBy extending the date, counties will have the summer months to get their demolitions completed,\u201d said Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine.\u00a0\u201cThis extension will allow each county to use a combination of Phase I and Phase II funds to complete additional demolitions.\u201d<\/p>\n
At the end of September 30, any remaining demolition funds not reimbursed will be redistributed for a third phase of the demolition program.\u00a0 A priority for redistribution of these funds will be made to those counties who completed their demolition program by the original May 31 deadline.<\/p>\n
The Ohio Attorney General\u2019s Moving Ohio Forward program was created to help Ohio\u2019s communities tear down dilapidated and abandoned homes across the state. \u00a0The funds come from Ohio\u2019s share of the national mortgage settlement reached with the country\u2019s five largest mortgage servicers over foreclosure abuses, fraud and unacceptable mortgage practices. Attorney General DeWine directed $75 million for demolition.<\/p>\n
September 30 is also the deadline for Phase II of the program.\u00a0 The second phase was created from funds not under contract by December 31, 2013 of the original $75 million allocation and reallocated to all 88 counties.<\/p>\n
