{"id":52323,"date":"2014-06-02T17:12:46","date_gmt":"2014-06-02T22:12:46","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thevwindependent.com\/news\/?p=52323"},"modified":"2014-06-02T21:59:36","modified_gmt":"2014-06-03T02:59:36","slug":"vera-marie-laukhuf","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thevwindependent.com\/news\/2014\/06\/02\/vera-marie-laukhuf\/","title":{"rendered":"Vera Marie Laukhuf"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Vera Marie Laukhuf, 93, of Paulding, passed into eternity Sunday evening, June 1, 2014, at the Van Wert Area Inpatient Hospice Center.<\/p>\n<p>She was born February 6, 1921, the daughter and fourth child of the late Joel and Ida Mae (Gilliom) Maller. She and her siblings, Helen, Melvin, Naomi and Robert, were all raised on the family farm east of Bluffton in Adams County, Indiana. On January 1, 1944, she married Lester Laukhuf, son of Henry and Ollie (Gerber) Laukhuf. Their marriage was blessed with five children: Pauline, Dale, Dwain, LeAnn and LaNae. Lester and Vera accepted Christ as their Lord and Savior and were baptized December 9, 1945, at the Latty Apostolic Christian Church.<\/p>\n<p>Vera was a homemaker, supporting Lester in his vocation as a lifelong farmer west of Haviland. She also volunteered in church and community activities, notably with the Blue Creek and Wayne Trace music mothers\u2019 organization, and quilting with Apostolic Christian World Relief. With Lester\u2019s passing in 1987, and moving to Country Inn in 2010, she always remained active with the church, family and friends. She loved gardening, cooking and baking, and giving candy to her grandchildren, great-grandkids and other children. Nothing gave her greater joy than to sing and hear the Gospel in word and song.<\/p>\n<p>Vera is survived by four of her children, Dale (Marcia) Laukhuf of Lima, Dwain (Wanita) Laukhuf of Haviland, LeAnn (Rodney) Stoller of Van Wert and LaNae (Arlyn) Rudin of Milford, Illinois; 13 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Gladys Maller; one brother-in-law, Ted Kaehr; and many nieces, nephews and cousins of the Laukhuf-Gerber\/Maller-Gilliom families.<\/p>\n<p>An infant daughter, Pauline; her siblings; and an infant great-granddaughter, Ashley Claire Blume, who she believed will be with Christ to welcome her into Heaven\u2019s Glory.<\/p>\n<p><b>Funeral services will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, June 4, at Latty Apostolic Christian Church, with burial following in the church cemetery.<\/b><\/p>\n<p><b>Calling hours are from 2-8 p.m. Tuesday, June 3, in the Latty Apostolic Christian Church Fellowship Hall, and an hour prior to services Wednesday at the church.<\/b><\/p>\n<p>Preferred memorials: Country Inn Enhanced Living Center, Van Wert Area Inpatient Hospice Center or a charity of the donor\u2019s choice.<\/p>\n<p>Den Herder Funeral Home in Paulding is handling arrangements.<\/p>\n<p>Online condolences may be left at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.denherderfh.com\">www.denherderfh.com<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Vera Marie Laukhuf, 93, of Paulding, passed into eternity Sunday evening, June 1, 2014, at the Van Wert Area Inpatient Hospice Center.
