(VWCH photo)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Each year, the members of the four Twig groups dedicate their time to raise funds that, in turn, are donated to the hospital to support patient-centered initiatives. This year, the Twigs have approved the purchase of two patient carts\/stretchers to replace and upgrade former used stretchers in the surgery department at the Health Center; one surgical arm table to update outdated equipment and improve surgical efficiency during surgeries of the upper extremities at the hospital; one flexible cystoscopy to improve and ease Foley insertions for surgical urology patients; a fluidotherapy unit to treat hands and feet for heat and desensitization; and a Hoyer Heavy-Duty Power Lift to assist and improve transfers and mobilization of bariatric patients throughout the hospital.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFor more than 50 years, our ladies have been raising monies towards the purchase of new hospital equipment which ultimately benefits the entire community. It is overwhelming, the number of ladies who participate as Twig members. Together, we are proud to be able to give back to our community and hospital.\u201d says LaDonna Allenbaugh, All-Twig Board President.<\/p>\n<p>The Twigs maintain four different groups, each of which coordinates various service projects throughout the community. Twig 1 and Twig II organizations jointly operate the Hospital Thrift Shop. The Thrift Shop is open to the public five days a week: Monday, Tuesday and Thursday from 9 a.m.-5 p.m., Wednesdays closed, and Saturday 9 a.m.-1 p.m. The Hospital Thrift Shop is located at 131 E. Central Ave.\u00a0 The women of Twig III manage the Hospital Gift Shop and annual Tree of Lights ceremony. Twig IV members coordinate a monthly Sweet Shoppe every second Thursday of the month, except during the summer months, from 11 a.m.-2 p.m., as well as organizing artisan sales, and the annual poinsettia sale in November. Since their formation, the Twigs have donated over $1,529,076 for \u00a0Van Wert County Hospital.<\/p>\n<p><!--more-->New members are always encouraged to join and share their talents with the women of the Twig groups. Being a volunteer is one of the most generous ways to share one\u2019s time and talents.
