U.S. Senator Sherrod Brown (D-Ohio) announced that Middle Point Fire Department has been awarded $219,118 for vehicle acquisition by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security\u2019s (DHS) Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) Assistance to Firefighters Grants (AFG) program.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFirefighters put their lives on the line each day to keep our communities safe,\u201d Brown said. \u201cThese new federal resources will help ensure that Middle Point\u2019s skilled responders have the resources they need to safely do their jobs.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Middle Point Fire Department was awarded this funding as part of the round 7 competitive Fiscal Year 2013 AFG Program announcements.<\/p>\n<p>The AFG program helps firefighters and other first responders improve their ability to protect the public and themselves.
