Those looking for an event the whole family can enjoy can come on down to the 2014 Van Wert Rib Fest and \u201cham\u201d it up with the YWCA during its third annual Pig Races.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_54244\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-54244\" style=\"width: 330px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.thevwindependent.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/08\/YWCA-Pig-Races-promo-pic-8-2014.jpg\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-54244 \" style=\"border: 1px solid black;\" alt=\"The YWCA Pig Races are part of the upcoming Van Wert Rib Fest event coming this weekend. (VW independent file photo)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>During the event, which will be held Saturday, August 9, at 4:30 p.m. in the covered show arena at Van Wert County Fairgrounds, six races will be held, showcasing some of the area\u2019s most vivacious, and intensely adorable, pigs.\u00a0 Each group of pigs will battle it out for first place in their heat and for bragging rights of fastest \u201cpiglet porker.\u201d This is sure to be a fun family event, or a fun guys or girls night out!<\/p>\n<p>Each race is comprised of 10 pigs, all of which have \u201cdesigner\u201d names and sponsors. Participants will have the opportunity to place a $2 wager on the pig &#8212; or pigs &#8212; of their choice; payouts will be made at the close of each race.<\/p>\n<p>Those who would like to try their luck even further can find one of the YWCA volunteers at the event and purchase 50\/50 tickets.
