Glossett"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Richard E. \u201cDick\u201d Glossett, 77, of New Haven, Ind., and formerly of Van Wert County, died at 6:07 a.m. Monday, March 28, 2011, at the Visiting Nurse &amp; Hospice Hospital in Fort Wayne, Ind.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_5427\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-5427\" style=\"width: 200px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-5427 \" style=\"border: 1px solid black\" src=\"https:\/\/www.thevwindependent.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/03\/Richard-Glossett-obit-photo-3-2011.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"200\" height=\"288\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-5427\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Richard E. Glossett<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>He was born January 1, 1934, in Van Wert, the son of the late Fred and Esther (Kriegle) Glossett. On October 3, 1976, he married Marilyn (Hanson) Glossett, who survives in New Haven.<\/p>\n<p>Mr. Glossett was retired from Rodoc in Delphos and had formerly been maintenance supervisor at Fort Wayne Mack and Fort Wayne Leasing. He was a member of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Convoy. He was a former member of Grand Lake Motorcycle Club, Middle Point Snow Twisters Snowmobile Club, Van Wert Traveling Squares, was a former EMT and volunteer firefighter for the Middle Point Fire Department, a former board member of the Anthis Diesel School in Fort Wayne and he and his wife had been a presenting couple for Lutheran Marriage Encounter in Indiana and Kentucky.<\/p>\n<p>In addition to his wife, survivors include nine children, Teresa Glossett of Van Wert, Karen (Scot) Etgen of Convoy, Tammy (Ted) Baker of Middle Point, Kelly Glossett of Convoy, Rick (Olga) Glossett of Syracuse, Ind., Jeff (Betty) Glossett of Van Wert, Jeff (Debbie) Venderley of Middle Point, Chris (Sue) Venderley of Bribie Island, Australia, and Aaron Burris of Roanoke, Ind.; 31 grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren.<\/p>\n<p>Two sisters, Marjorie Glossett (in infancy) and Pat Pollock, also preceded him in death.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 30, at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Convoy, with the Rev. Rita Bair officiating. Burial will be in Woodland Cemetery in Van Wert, at a later date.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Calling hours are from 10-11 a.m. Wednesday at the church.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Preferred memorials: In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to: Visiting Nurse &amp; Hospice Hospital, 5910 Homestead Road, Fort Wayne, IN.<\/p>\n<p>Arrangements were handled by Alspach-Gearhart Funeral Home &amp; Crematory in Van Wert.<\/p>\n<p>Messages of sympathy may be sent to the family at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.alspachgearhart.com\">www.alspachgearhart.com<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Richard E. \u201cDick\u201d Glossett, 77, of New Haven, Ind., and formerly of Van Wert County, died at 6:07 a.m. Monday, March 28, 2011, at the Visiting Nurse &amp; Hospice Hospital in Fort Wayne, Ind.
