{"id":54859,"date":"2014-08-25T05:36:01","date_gmt":"2014-08-25T10:36:01","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thevwindependent.com\/news\/?p=54859"},"modified":"2014-08-25T05:36:01","modified_gmt":"2014-08-25T10:36:01","slug":"lancer-boy-runners-2nd-at-delphos-meet","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thevwindependent.com\/news\/2014\/08\/25\/lancer-boy-runners-2nd-at-delphos-meet\/","title":{"rendered":"Lancer boy runners 2nd at Delphos meet"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><i>Lincolnview cross country information<\/i><\/p>\n<p>DELPHOS &#8212; The Lincolnview Lancer cross country teams traveled to the Delphos Blue Jay Invitational on Saturday.\u00a0 The varsity boys finished one point behind New Bremen to place second with a score of 49 points.\u00a0 The varsity girls placed fifth.\u00a0 The junior high boys nearly swept the meet, placing five runners in the top six positions and winning the meet easily.\u00a0The junior high girls placed sixth.<\/p>\n<p>In the varsity boys\u2019 race, Bayley Tow was the individual runner-up, placing second in 16:55.\u00a0Also in the top 10 were Alex Rodriguez, who finished fifth; and Trevor Neate, who placed ninth overall.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe had some good things happen today, but we also took a few steps back in some places,\u201d said Lincolnview Coach Matt Langdon. \u201dIt was a very close race the entire time with New Bremen; they finished stronger than we did and that made the difference.\u00a0They are a very good team and, hopefully, the next time we race them we will be able to make the adjustments necessary.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In the varsity girls\u2019 race, Anna Gorman placed 14th overall and teammate Abbie Enyart placed 17th and freshman Alena Looser was 22nd.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt was a good start for our girls program,\u201d Coach Langdon said.\u00a0\u201cWe only have five returners from last season, so the rest of the team is new to high school cross country.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe now need to learn what it takes to be competitive,\u201d the coach added.\u00a0\u201cFor the most part, many of the girls we were just trying to survive the race today.
