{"id":54887,"date":"2014-08-25T15:20:10","date_gmt":"2014-08-25T20:20:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thevwindependent.com\/news\/?p=54887"},"modified":"2014-08-25T15:20:55","modified_gmt":"2014-08-25T20:20:55","slug":"3-hurt-2-seriously-in-area-2-vehicle-crash","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thevwindependent.com\/news\/2014\/08\/25\/3-hurt-2-seriously-in-area-2-vehicle-crash\/","title":{"rendered":"3 hurt, 2 seriously, in area traffic accident"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><i>Ohio State Highway Patrol information<\/i><\/p>\n<p>PAULDING COUNTY &#8212; The Van Wert Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a serious injury \u201cfailure to yield\u201d crash in Paulding County.\u00a0 As a result of the crash, which occurred at approximately 9:10 a.m. Sunday, August 24, three people were transported to area hospitals, two of which were later transported to Fort Wayne, Indiana, hospitals via Life-flight medical transport helicopter.<\/p>\n<p>A 1998 Ford Windstar minivan driven by Lewis Belcher, 72, of Paulding, was westbound on County Road 232 in northeast Paulding County when he failed to yield the right-of-way and struck a 2002 Chrysler minivan driven by Shirley Hunsaker, 72, of Grover Hill.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.thevwindependent.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/02\/osplogo.gif\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-2340\" alt=\"osplogo\" src=\"https:\/\/www.thevwindependent.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/02\/osplogo.gif\" width=\"121\" height=\"160\" \/><\/a>The Chrysler veered off the west side of the roadway and flipped over into a cornfield before coming to rest on its side in the ditch. Belcher\u2019s minivan slid off the northwest side of the intersection coming to rest in the cornfield.<\/p>\n<p>Hunsaker was transported to the Defiance Regional Medical Center prior to being transported to a Fort Wayne area hospital for treatment of life threatening injuries.
