VW Area Chamber of Commerce information<\/i><\/p>\n

There\u2019s a new logo with pizazz and five new categories for this year\u2019s Salute to Small Business Awards.<\/p>\n

The Van Wert Area Chamber of Commerce is now accepting nominations for the 2014 Salute to Small Business Awards. The Chamber will spotlight businesses built on an entrepreneurial spirit that play a vital role in the Van Wert community and economy. A business\u2019 nomination is a tribute to its leadership and employees. This year we will recognize the following including five new categories:<\/p>\n

Spirit of Entrepreneurship: <\/b><\/p>\n

An innovative, established business that demonstrates initiative, perseverance, profitability and commitment to support community-oriented projects through the use of time and other resources.<\/p>\n

\"Salute<\/a>Ag Business: <\/b><\/p>\n

An established agricultural business that demonstrates sound business practices and excellence and a commitment to support community-oriented projects through the use of time and other resources.<\/p>\n

Charitable Non-Profit: <\/b><\/p>\n

A substantiated history of an established Charitable Non-Profit organization 501(c)(3) with a volunteer Board of Trustees or governing body that demonstrates sound business practices, innovation and leadership in offering human services within the Van Wert community.<\/p>\n

Service Industry Showcase: <\/b><\/p>\n

An established business in the service industry such as insurance, legal services or contracting that demonstrates sound business practices, excellence and a commitment to support community-oriented projects through the use of time and other resources.\u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n

Retail Champion: <\/b><\/p>\n

An established retail business that demonstrates sound business practices, excellence and a commitment to support community-oriented projects through the use of time and other resources.<\/p>\n

Palate Pleaser: <\/b><\/p>\n

An established food service or restaurant business that demonstrates sound business practices, excellence and a commitment to support community-oriented projects through the use of time and other resources.<\/p>\n

Manufacturing Excellence: <\/b><\/p>\n

An established manufacturing business that demonstrates sound business practices and leadership within the manufacturing industry based on economic impact, excellence and commitment to support community-oriented projects through the use of time and other resources.<\/p>\n

Rookie<\/b><\/p>\n

This is a special recognition for those businesses that are in their first year of operation. These \u201crookies\u201d demonstrate perseverance, tenacity and a commitment to blaze a new trail of small business success in the Van Wert community. <\/b><\/p>\n

The Chamber is accepting nominations for the awards until October 17. Nominees and award recipients will be recognized at an awards luncheon on November 14 at 11:45 a.m. at Willow Bend Country Club in Van Wert.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe small business owner is the heart of the Van Wert economy,\u201d said Chamber President\/CEO Susan Munroe. \u201cThey own commercial property, provide employment for multiple employees, purchase their business supplies locally because they understand the impact and power of shopping locally.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThese local entrepreneurs generously commit their time and resources to local community organizations,\u201d Munroe added. \u201cWe\u2019re pleased to devote an event to honor and acknowledge the pivotal role they play in our local economy.\u201d<\/p>\n
