The Van Wert boys took fifth place, while the girls finished 13.<\/p>\n<p>Lima Shawnee took first place in the boys\u2019 competition, with Versailles winning the girls\u2019 event. Ottawa-Glandorf earned runner-up status for both the girls\u2019 and boys\u2019 teams. Other schools participating (in order of finish in the boys\u2019 standings) included Celina, Ada, Van Wert, Minster, Lima Central Catholic, Versailles, New Bremen, Lima Bath, Lima Senior, Kenton, Elida, Coldwater, Fort Recovery, St. Marys, and Marion Local.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_59184\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-59184\" style=\"width: 330px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.thevwindependent.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/12\/VW-swim-team-12-29-14-Easley.jpg\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-59184 \" style=\"border: 1px solid black;\" alt=\"Van Wert's Sam Easley competes in the 100-yard butterfly. (photo submitted)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Highlights of the boys\u2019 day included Sam Easley scoring fourth in the 50-yard freestyle and fifth in the 100-yard butterfly, while Tyler Rex also earned the Cougars a fourth place finish in the 100-yard backstroke.<\/p>\n<p>Also scoring for the Cougars were Tyler Rex netting a seventh place in the 200-yard individual medley, Kory Schlatter earning a 15th place in the 200-yard individual medley, Cade Fleming earning eighth place in the 100-yard freestyle and ninth in the 100-yard breaststroke, Hannah Stemen earning a seventh place in the 500-yard freestyle and Bethany Fast getting a 14th place in the 200-yard individual medley.<\/p>\n<p>Four of the six \u201cA\u201d relay teams scored, while the best finishes were fourth place by both the boys\u2019 200-yard medley and 400-yard freestyle relay teams.
