Western Buckeye ESC information<\/i><\/p>\n

Sandra Freeman, coordinator for Gifted Services for the Western Buckeye Educational Service Center, has announced that the 2015 Journal-Gazette Van Wert County Spelling Bee is scheduled for Thursday, February 5, at 7 p.m. in the Marsh Foundation School auditorium. The event is free and open to the public.<\/p>\n

Thirteen contestants representing seven Van Wert County schools, in grades 4-8, will compete for the honor of representing the county in the Journal-Gazette Regional Spelling Bee in Fort Wayne, Indiana, on March 7.<\/p>\n

Individual school champions are:
\nCrestview Elementary — Hayden Tomlinson, fifth grade; Carson Kreischer, sixth grade.
\nCrestview Middle School — Trinity Snyder, seventh grade; Sonny Chorvas, eighth grade.
\nLincolnview Elementary — Una VanWynsberghe, fifth grade; Dylann Carey, sixth grade.<\/p>\n

Lincolnview Junior High — Kirsten Stemen, seventh grade; Kylee Mongold, eighth grade.
\nSt. Mary of the Assumption School — Annie Renner, fourth grade.
\nVan Wert Elementary — KeAndre Blythe, fifth grade.
\nVan Wert Middle School — Grace Doctor, sixth grade; Angel Haller, seventh grade, Joey Schaufelberger, eighth grade.<\/p>\n

Doug Grooms of Van Wert is the pronouncer for the Spelling Bee.<\/p>\n

Judges for the contest are Crestview Program Services Director Keith Rydell, Lincolnview Elementary Principal Nita McKinney, and Sarah White, a guidance counselor at Van Wert Middle School.<\/p>\n

Becky Diglia, curriculum coordinator for the Western Buckeye ESC, will preside as emcee of the event, while Lincolnview Marsh School Principal Robbie Breese is in charge of the physical set-up of the competition.<\/p>\n

Van Wert Federal Savings Bank is sponsoring the awards for the event, which include cash awards and plaques for the top three finishers and certificates of recognition for all participants.<\/p>\n

Contestants are reminded to report to the Marsh Foundation School Library at 6:30 p.m. on February 5.<\/p>\n
