(Dave Mosier\/Van Wert independent)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>According to County Emergency Management Director Rick McCoy, a change in the track of the storm, which veered more northward than expected, saved the county from the 10-12 inches of snow forecasters were predicting for the area.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThank goodness this storm moved slightly to the north,\u201d McCoy noted in his Facebook blog.<\/p>\n<p>Not so lucky were a number of northeast Indiana and northwest Ohio communities and counties, including LaPorte (19.3 inches), Elkhart (16.3 inches), Shipshewana (16.0 inches), and Fort Wayne (12.0 inches) in Indiana, and Wauseon (14.3 inches), Williams County (11.0 inches) and Antwerp (10.6 inches) in Ohio.<\/p>\n<p>Winds also increased overnight in the county, causing blowing and drifting, especially in rural areas.<\/p>\n<p>The high today is expected to be 14, with a wind-chill factor of minus 5 below zero.
