Van Wert swim team information<\/i><\/p>\n

AYERSVILLE — The Cougar swim team traveled to Ayersville High School for the Ohio High School Athletic Association\u2019s Division II sectional tournament involving 14 teams, including four Western Buckeye League schools.<\/p>\n

The Van Wert boys took fourth place, while the girls finished eighth. Ottawa-Glandorf claimed both the girls and boys titles. Other schools participating included Celina, Wauseon, Defiance, Coldwater, Bowling Green, Fort Recovery, Whitehouse Anthony Wayne, Ayersville, Archbold, Leipsic, Sherwood Fairview and Pemberville Eastwood.<\/p>\n

During the sectional tournament, the Cougar swimmers earned 27 \u201cpersonal best\u201d records. Athletes who advance to the OHSAA Division II district tournament in individual events include Hannah Stemen, Sam Easley and Tyler Rex.<\/p>\n

All three boys\u2019 relay teams scored and will advance to the OHSAA Division II district tournament.\u00a0 The best finishes were third place by the 200-yard medley team (Rex, Cade Fleming, Easley and Josh Overholt), and second in the 200-yard freestyle relay (Easley, Fleming, Overholt and Rex). The 400-yard freestyle relay (Easley, Fleming, Overholt and Rex) earned fourth place.<\/p>\n

All three girls\u2019 relay teams scored. \u00a0The best finish was recorded by the 400-yard freestyle relay, with Katie Trittschuh, Madison Turnwald, Peyton Fleming and Stemen, taking sixth place to advance to the OHSAA Division II district tournament. The 200-yard freestyle relay, with Bethany Fast, Trittschuh, Turnwald and Fleming, claimed seventh place. The 200-yard medley relay team also took seventh place; members were Stemen, Fleming, Fast and Trittschuh.<\/p>\n

The next meet for the Cougars will be the OHSAA Division II district tournament at Bowling Green State University on February 20.<\/p>\n
