The Cougars claimed the title with 98 points, while host Bath was second with 88 points, and St. Marys finished in third with 86 points. There were a total of nine teams in the meet.<\/p>\n<p>The Cougars were led by\u00a0sophomore distance runner Jared Fleming, who recorded three first-place finishes (800-, 1600-, and 3200-meter runs). Reggie Phillips, a junior sprinter, scored in four events (100 and 200-meter dashes and the 4&#215;100- and 4&#215;200-meter relay teams). It was a total team effort for the Van Wert boys, who scored in 14 of the 16 events they entered.<\/p>\n<p>The Cougar girls finished in sixth place in the meet with 49 points, behind champion Lima Shawnee, which had 131 points, and runner-up Ottawa-Glandorf\u2019s 131 points. The Van Wert girls performed well with an injury-depleted squad on\u00a0Saturday, with eight varsity team members unable to compete.
