The past week at Crestview High School was a decidedly busy one, full of several events the students were able to participate in.<\/p>\n

Last Friday, being the most eventful day, there were two main events.\u00a0 One<\/p>\n

was the Red Cross Blood Drive that took place in the high school gym where the students and community members donated 76 usable units of blood.\u00a0 For that particular event, students were to sign up and make an appointment in advance to give blood at a particular time.\u00a0 Although not every student had the best reaction to giving blood at the last blood drive, they still showed up ready to give despite the negative reactions.\u00a0 One such student was senior Christina Holdgreve, who said, \u201cI felt that I should because I know the importance of giving blood as I have had people in my family that have needed blood themselves.\u201d<\/p>\n

High school students were also instructed to sign up before the twelve o\u2019clock time slot as they would miss the assembly that was to take place later that day if they did not.\u00a0 The assembly dealt with an ever growing problem with teenagers today known as \u201ccyber-bullying\u201d which is a form of bullying that is now taking place on the Internet with social networking sites such as Facebook.\u00a0 The presentation stressed the seriousness of the problem, as it has actually been the cause of several suicides, and it gave students tips on how to deal with cyber-bullying.\u00a0 Junior Nathaniel Mladenovic felt that it was a valuable presentation saying, \u201cI thought it provided a lot of good information for kids using those sites.\u201d<\/p>\n

The third and final event took place on these past Friday and Saturday evenings.\u00a0 This event was the annual Crestview Dinner Theater, the theme of whi<\/p>\n

ch this year was \u201cAround the World\u201d and featured music, props, and outfits significant to cultures around the world.\u00a0 Director Mrs. Hancock said, \u201cDinner Theater was a great success.\u00a0 I was very pleased with the attendance and the quality of the students\u2019 performances.\u201d<\/p>\n

On the elementary side, this Saturday evening another \u201cKid\u2019s Night Out\u201d is scheduled as a fundraiser for the Crestview Elementary School.\u00a0 At this event, parents will be able to drop their children off at the school for the evening where there will be snacks, games and fun.<\/p>\n
