{"id":64308,"date":"2015-05-28T08:02:35","date_gmt":"2015-05-28T13:02:35","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thevwindependent.com\/news\/?p=64308"},"modified":"2015-05-28T08:12:29","modified_gmt":"2015-05-28T13:12:29","slug":"jobless-rate-again-down-in-vw-county","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thevwindependent.com\/news\/2015\/05\/28\/jobless-rate-again-down-in-vw-county\/","title":{"rendered":"Jobless rate again down in VW County"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><i>VW independent\/ODJFS information<\/i><\/p>\n<p>Van Wert County\u2019s unemployment rate dropped seven-tenths of a percent in April and the county had the 11th lowest jobless rate in the state at 3.8 percent during the month.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.thevwindependent.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/05\/Jobless-Rate-Map-4-20151.jpg\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-64318\" alt=\"Jobless Rate Map 4-2015\" src=\"https:\/\/www.thevwindependent.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/05\/Jobless-Rate-Map-4-20151.jpg\" width=\"350\" height=\"376\" \/><\/a>According to workforce numbers provided by the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services, in conjunction with the U.S. Labor Department\u2019s Bureau of Labor Statistics, the county\u2019s workforce total, as well as the number of people employed, increased 100, while the number of people unemployed decreased to 500, a decrease of 100 people.<\/p>\n<p>Van Wert County, as well as all of its neighboring counties &#8212; and all 88 Ohio counties &#8212; saw a decrease in unemployment during April.<\/p>\n<p>Mercer County again led the state with an unemployment rate of 2.9 percent, while seven other counties also had jobless rates at or below 3.5 percent.\u00a0 Those include Delaware and Holmes counties, 3.1 percent; Hancock and Wyandot counties, 3.3 percent; and Auglaize, Union and Wayne counties, 3.5 percent.<\/p>\n<p>Among neighboring counties, in addition to Mercer and Auglaize counties, Putnam County\u2019s unemployment rate decreased seventh-tenths of a percent, from 4.4 percent to 3.7 percent; Paulding County saw its unemployment rate decrease from 5.4 percent to 4.5 percent; and Allen County saw a decrease of six-tenths of a percent, from 5.1 percent to 4.5 percent.<\/p>\n<p>Elsewhere in the state, four counties had unemployment rates at 7.0 percent or above.
