The annual Van Wert County Master Gardeners plant sale will be held on Saturday, April 30, and will open at 8 a.m. and run until plants are sold out. This year the plant sale is located in the Junior Fair Building on the fairgrounds. Not only is the plant sale being held on April 30 the Ultimate Garage Sale will also be featured in many of the buildings on the fairgrounds that day, so come out and check out the garage sales plus purchase plants for lawn or garden use.<\/p>\n
The proceeds through the sale of plants will benefit the Master Gardeners projects, such as the Garden for the Senses, Children\u2019s Garden, and the group\u2019s continuing educational activities.<\/p>\n
The plant sale will feature potted mums in colors of yellow, dark bronze, white, bronze spoon with red tips, orange-bronze, deep red, orchid-lavender, salmon-pink with peach center and deep purple. This year Minnesota stock mums are featured and they are taller, larger and feature unusual blooming varieties. Mums and annuals will sell for $3 each. Potted herbs, both culinary and aromatic, will be for sale for $3 each. Perennials selected for the sale are Amsonia (the perennial of the year 2011), Delphinium and Phlox. All perennials are priced at $5.50 each.<\/p>\n
Also for sale at the Master Gardeners Plant Sale will be bricks engraved with the name of someone the purchaser wants to honor. They will be commemorated in bronze and placed in the brick walkway project at the Children\u2019s Garden. The bricks are 4×8-inch size for $100.<\/p>\n
Stop by the Junior Fair Building on Saturday, April 30th<\/sup> at 8 a.m. to purchase perennials, annuals, mums or herbs to beautify your outdoor living spaces or as a gift for that special gardener in the family.
