The color purple is recognized as the international color symbolic of domestic violence.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.thevwindependent.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/Purple-Light-Nights-artwork-8-2015.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-66878\" alt=\"Purple Light Nights artwork 8-2015\" src=\"https:\/\/www.thevwindependent.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/Purple-Light-Nights-artwork-8-2015.jpg\" width=\"200\" height=\"179\" \/><\/a>To participate in Purple Light Nights<b>\u2122<\/b>,<b> <\/b>community members and businesses are encouraged to purchase a purple light bulb or a string of purple lights through the YWCA of Van Wert County. The lights should be displayed in lampposts, porch lights, trees and\/or business storefronts throughout the entire month of October in honor and remembrance of domestic violence victims. Businesses can also sponsor a tree with recognition of their sponsorship. Each purchase comes with a complimentary \u201cStop Domestic Violence\u201d yard sign.<\/p>\n<p>Pricing for the lights is as follows: Purple light bulbs (single), $5 each; purple LED string lights (17 feet), $30 each; tree sponsorship, $100 each.<\/p>\n<p>Orders for lights will be taken through the month of August with delivery scheduled for late September. Lights and sponsorship may be purchased onsite at the YWCA, by calling 419.238.6639, extension 109, or by emailing <a href=\"mailto:jodylynnwann@gmail.com\">jodylynnwann@gmail.com<\/a>.
