{"id":67695,"date":"2015-09-08T06:47:34","date_gmt":"2015-09-08T11:47:34","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thevwindependent.com\/news\/?p=67695"},"modified":"2015-09-08T06:47:34","modified_gmt":"2015-09-08T11:47:34","slug":"lancer-boys-2nd-girls-3rd-at-cg-meet","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thevwindependent.com\/news\/2015\/09\/08\/lancer-boys-2nd-girls-3rd-at-cg-meet\/","title":{"rendered":"Lancer boys 2nd, girls 3rd at CG meet"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><i>Lincolnview cross country information<\/i><\/p>\n<p>COLUMBUS GROVE &#8212; The Lincolnview Lancer cross country teams competed in the Columbus Grove Invitational on Saturday.\u00a0 Both varsity teams placed in the top three of the meet, with the boys taking home the runner-up trophy &#8212; just 4 points behind state ranked Carey in the field of 27 schools.\u00a0The girls team placed third overall behind No. 1-state ranked Minster\u00a0and 13 points behind No. 10-ranked Botkins.<\/p>\n<p>The boys were led by senior Trevor Neate, who placed 12th overall in a time of 17:10. He was followed closely by the Lancer pack, which included freshman Karter Tow in 15th (17:18), Austin Elick in 19th (17:24), Colton Snyder in 22nd (17:34), and Alek Bowersock in 31st (17:50).\u00a0 Rounding out the varsity for the boys was Andrew Fickert in 39th (18:01) and Jacob Keysor in 46th place (18:12).<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe boys ran a very strategic and smart race today,\u201d said Lincolnview Coach Matt Langdon.\u00a0\u201cWe have been working on closing our pack earlier in the race and moving from the mile mark to the finish.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey did that,\u201d Langdon added. \u201cThey were constantly on the move and it paid off in a big way.\u00a0We put ourselves in a position to beat a very strong Carey team.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis was a good day for the boys with many career best times,\u201d Coach Langdon said. \u201cWe are finally starting to understand how we need to race to be successful down the road.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The girls were led by senior Anna Gorman, who placed 20th overall in a time of 20:54.\u00a0 She was followed closely by teammates Abbie Enyart in 22nd place (21:15) and freshmen Rylee Byrne, 28th (21:27), and Brayden Langdon 31st (21:35).\u00a0 Rounding out the scoring for the Lady Lancers were Alena Looser, 44th (22:27); Madeline Snyder 50 (22:39); and Trinity Welch, 59th (23:02).<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe girls had a great bounce-back performance from our Tuesday meet.\u00a0 We were in striking distance of No. 10-ranked Botkins, who has a very talented team, including the overall individual winner,\u201d Langdon noted.\u00a0\u201cThe girls are still figuring this out and they still have a very high ceiling for improvement.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis was a huge step forward for them,\u201d Langdon added.\u00a0\u201cNow we can re-group and prepare for Tiffin next weekend.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_67696\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-67696\" style=\"width: 545px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.thevwindependent.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/Lancer-CC-teams-9-5-15.jpg\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-67696 \" style=\"border: 1px solid black;\" alt=\"The Lancer boys' and girls' cross country teams.
