{"id":68454,"date":"2015-09-30T14:23:48","date_gmt":"2015-09-30T19:23:48","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thevwindependent.com\/news\/?p=68454"},"modified":"2015-09-30T14:23:48","modified_gmt":"2015-09-30T19:23:48","slug":"woodland-indian-event-offers-great-photo-ops","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thevwindependent.com\/news\/2015\/09\/30\/woodland-indian-event-offers-great-photo-ops\/","title":{"rendered":"Woodland Indian event offers great photo ops"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>By Rex Dolby<\/strong><\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_68455\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-68455\" style=\"width: 330px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.thevwindependent.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/Enactor-3-1024x768.jpg\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-68455 \" style=\"border-width: 1px; border-color: black; border-style: solid;\" alt=\"(Photo submitted.)\" src=\"https:\/\/www.thevwindependent.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/Enactor-3-1024x768.jpg\" width=\"330\" height=\"248\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-68455\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">(Photo submitted.)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Seven members\u00a0from the\u00a0Van Wert Area Photography Club and the Grand Lake Photography Club attended the 13<sup>th<\/sup>\u00a0Woodland Indian Celebration on Saturday, Sept. 20, for some unique photo opportunities.\u00a0 Located at the Seven Eagles Historical Education Center, just outside Grand Rapids, Ohio, the two-day event offered chances for visitors to experience Native American arts and crafts, food, dancing and music.<\/p>\n<p>In addition, the\u00a0Center itself provided more photo opportunities with permanent sites representing a Woodland Indian Village, a 1750 Trading Post, a 1790 Tavern and an 1800 Log Cabin.\u00a0 All the sites\u00a0offered the chance to shoot both inside and outside of the structures.<\/p>\n<p>Five of the group arrived shortly after the event opened at 10 a.m.\u00a0 After scouting the grounds for pictures and sampling the food offered by vendors, they settled in\u00a0for the grand entrance of dancers and drummers which was scheduled to take place at 12:30 p.m.\u00a0 Some additional shots were provided by a gentleman who was really dressed for the occasion.\u00a0 He toured through the crowd and was very gracious about posing by himself or with family members.\u00a0 With almost 40 minutes yet to wait and the\u00a0lure of the Ohio State football game at 3 p.m. the group decided to leave.<\/p>\n<p>Mike and Candy Taylor wisely arrived about the time the rest had decided to leave.\u00a0 As a result, Mike got some outstanding pictures of the dancers in their colorful garb.\u00a0 He has them posted, as do others, on the Van Wert Area Photography Club&#8217;s Facebook page.<\/p>\n<p>The club&#8217;s next meeting is scheduled for Thursday, Oct. 8, 7 p.m., at 114 S.
