The young people reenacted the events of Easter.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

A “Living Stations of the Cross” prayer service took place on Palm Sunday at
\nthe St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic School. Students taking on the roles
\nparts of Jesus, Mary, Pontius Pilate and others enacted the 14 events
\nleading up to our Savior’s death and burial. Pictured is the scene where
\nJesus is placed in the tomb, only to rise again on Easter Sunday.
\nMeditations and reflections helped the cast and those in attendance to pray
\nand to relate these events in our personal life.<\/p>\n

As part of an Old Testament study the 6th grade class at St. Mary’s School<\/p>\n

The children studied the Passover Seder.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

celebrated a Passover Seder. The Seder meal includes the bitter taste of
\nhorseradish as well as the sweet taste of Haroset, an apple cinnamon
\nmixture. The meal included matzo crackers, matzo ball soup, boiled eggs,
\nparsley, and grape juice. Each food was blessed as the safe passage of the
\nIsraelites from Egypt to the Promised Land was retold.<\/p>\n

<\/strong>St Marys kids visit Chicago<\/h2>\n

St. Marys students recently visited Chicago.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n
\"\"
They saw many interesting things.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Is Chicago really the “Windy City? The 6th grade students from St. Mary of
\nthe Assumption School would tell you that it’s not only windy but also rainy
\nand foggy. Rain didn’t dampen their spirits however. Eight students and
\nfive adult chaperons traveled by train to Chicago recently for a 3-day
\nvisit. They visited the Adler Planetarium, the Field Museum of Natural
\nHistory, Navy Pier, St. Michael’s Church in Old Town, the Chicago Art
\nInstitute Museum. The group ate at the Rain Forest Caf\u00e9, the Rock and Roll
\nMcDonald’s and at a Chicago-style pizzaria. Fog prevented the students from
\ngoing up Willus Tower and out on the observation deck. The extra time
\nwas spent shopping and no one seemed to object. The group traveled to and
\nfrom Chicago on Amtrak from Waterloo, Indiana. Adult chaperons included
\nMrs. Wolke, Mrs. Riethman, Fr. Mike and Mr. and Mrs. Mathew.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
