{"id":71384,"date":"2015-12-30T08:01:39","date_gmt":"2015-12-30T13:01:39","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thevwindependent.com\/news\/?p=71384"},"modified":"2015-12-30T08:01:39","modified_gmt":"2015-12-30T13:01:39","slug":"persistence-pays-off-for-voice-winner","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thevwindependent.com\/news\/2015\/12\/30\/persistence-pays-off-for-voice-winner\/","title":{"rendered":"Persistence pays off for &#8216;Voice&#8217; winner"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Craig Wayne Boyd was playing anywhere he could in Nashville, as many musicians do.\u00a0 Music City, USA, is what they call Nashville, Tennessee.\u00a0Because of that, it attracts many aspiring young musicians, but very few actually make it.<\/p>\n<p>Boyd began his aspirations in 2004, but it wasn\u2019t until he auditioned for NBC\u2019s \u201cThe Voice\u201d in 2014 that he finally found the break he was looking for.\u00a0It was actually September 30 of 2014 that Boyd debuted on TV\u2019s \u201cThe Voice\u201d as a selection of Country music sensation Blake Shelton, who then became his coach and mentor.\u00a0After many attempts to run him off the show, the public kept coming to Boyd\u2019s rescue and voting him back. In the semifinals, he sang Merle Haggard\u2019s \u201cWorkin\u2019 Man Blues\u201d and \u201cThe Old Rugged Cross,\u201d which catapulted him into the finals.\u00a0On December 16 of last year, Boyd was declared the winner of the seventh season of \u201cThe Voice\u201d!<\/p>\n<p>Since last year, he has been on a whirlwind tour of the United States.\u00a0Shortly after winning, he went on a 65-city tour, sharing his smooth Country voice with many adoring fans.\u00a0Boyd says he loves to share stories with his songs, and it\u2019s obvious people like to hear those stories. A couple weeks ago, Boyd made an appearance at The Grand Old\u2019 Opry.\u00a0Before going out on that famed stage, he sat on the side and wept, realizing how hard he has worked to finally get there. \u201cPersistence and perseverance pay off if you don\u2019t give up on yourself,\u201d he stated after that performance.<\/p>\n<p>This newest Country music star will be on stage at the Niswonger Performing Arts Center in a few weeks on January 23, 2016.\u00a0 It should be a Saturday night to remember!\u00a0 Tickets are still available for this memorable concert.\u00a0I look for them to start going quickly once we get into the new year.<\/p>\n<p>Our box office is open Monday-Wednesday this week and then will be back to its regular hours beginning January 4 (Monday-Friday, noon-4 p.m.).\u00a0 Of course in the land of Internet, the box office is always open 24\/7 at <a href=\"http:\/\/npacvw.org\/\">NPACVW.ORG<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><i>Million Dollar Quartet<\/i> (January 31) tickets and Air Supply (February 6) are both nearly sold out.\u00a0BJ Thomas with the Lima Symphony Orchestra (February 27) is quickly picking up the pace and seats are going fast for this concert too!<\/p>\n<p>We have a whole new season on tap for you to enjoy at the Niswonger starting in January.
