Van Wert swim team information<\/i><\/p>\n

DEFIANCE — The Van Wert High School boys and girls swimming teams traveled to Defiance Ayersville to compete in a dual meet. Both Cougar teams were victorious over the Ayersville Pilots: the girls won 120-40 and boys 92-57.<\/p>\n

Van Wert boys and girls earned first place finishes in every event except two. Swimmers placing first in individual events included Landrie Koontz (100-yard butterfly), Bethany Fast (100-yard breaststroke), Emma Verville (100-yard backstroke), Chloe Brake (200-yard individual medley), Peyton Fleming (50-yard freestyle), Jena Rex-LaRue (500-yard freestyle), Madison Turnwald (200-yard freestyle and 100-yard freestyle), Cory Pinson (100-yard freestyle), Dalton Heppeard (100-yard butterfly), Sam Easley (200-yard freestyle and 500-yard freestyle), and Cade Fleming (100-yard breaststroke).<\/p>\n

All six Van Wert relays finished in first place, including the 200 medley relay:\u00a0 boys (2:03.99 \u2013Easley, Noah Arend, Dalton Heppeard, Fleming), and girls (2:16.46 \u2013Verville, Fast, Fleming, Koontz), as well as the 200 freestyle relay: boys (1:56.60 \u2013Joe Linser, Stephen Hamblett, Pinson, Heppeard) and girls (2:05.41 \u2013Noelle Heffner, Turnwald, Koontz, Rebekah Fast), followed with the 400 Freestyle Relay: boys (4:16.65 \u2013Easley, Heppeard, Brayden Cox, Linser), and girls (4:30.38\u2013Heffner, Turnwald, Koontz, Fleming).<\/p>\n

Also, Maddison Jarrett earned a first place finish on Monday for the Cougars in the West-Central Ohio Diving Invitational at the Lima YMCA.<\/p>\n

Cougar swimmers return to action next Tuesday when they travel to Defiance to compete against the Bulldogs.<\/p>\n
