VW independent\/submitted information<\/em><\/p>\n

Members of Midwest Electric recently donated $15,475 to nine west-central Ohio charities and community projects through the cooperative\u2019s Community Connection Fund.<\/p>\n

Since the program started in 1998, the Midwest Electric Community Connection Fund has provided $904,283 to 729 area projects.<\/p>\n

The latest recipients are:<\/p>\n

  • CALL Food Ministries, Celina — $5,000 to buy refrigeration units for food storage.<\/li>\n
  • St. Henry EMS — $5,000 to help purchase a generator for the new EMS building.<\/li>\n
  • New Bremen German Township Fire Department — $1,500 to buy iPad tablets for use in emergency vehicles to work with the Active 9-1-1 app that helps facilitate emergency response.<\/li>\n
  • Joint Township District Memorial Hospital in St. Marys — $1,500 to help support the music therapy program for hospice care.<\/li>\n
  • Celina Baseball Association — $750 to purchase bats and balls for the ACME baseball program.<\/li>\n
  • Family Life Center of Auglaize County — $675 to buy car seats for the Young Parent program.<\/li>\n
  • Van Wert County DARE — $500 for supplies and prizes for DARE events.<\/li>\n
  • Delphos Public Library — $300 to buy cake pans for the cake pan check-out collection.<\/li>\n
  • Otterbein St. Marys — $250 to buy materials for residents to make blankets that are given to foster children.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    The Midwest Electric Community Connection Fund is a voluntary charitable program. Participating members\u2019 monthly electric bills are rounded up to the next dollar, with the additional pennies deposited in the fund.<\/p>\n

    A Board of Trustees, composed of cooperative members and separate from the Midwest Electric Board of Trustees, oversees the application and allocation process.<\/p>\n
