Van Wert Middle School was announced as one of only 20 Ohio Middle Schools to achieve this prestigious recognition.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_73538\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-73538\" style=\"width: 350px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-73538\" src=\"https:\/\/www.thevwindependent.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/Van-Wert-Middle-School-frontage-2-2016.jpg\" alt=\"Van Wert Middle School frontage 2-2016\" width=\"350\" height=\"262\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-73538\" class=\"wp-caption-text\"><strong>Van Wert Middle School was named a national and state &#8220;School to Watch&#8221; for the 11th time.<\/strong> <em>(Dave Mosier\/Van Wert independent)<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The OSTW program identifies high-performing middle grades schools that are academically excellent, developmentally responsive, and socially equitable. Schools must complete an extensive application and reflection process. A team of trained evaluators then visits selected schools.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cCongratulations to staff and leadership for being re-designated as both an Ohio School to Watch and National School to Watch,\u201d said Dan Stacy, consultant for the Ohio Department of Education. \u201cYour school\u2019s written application is strong evidence of the quality of your school.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe self-study process provides ongoing reflection on the challenges and progress made over the last three years,\u201d he added. \u201cThis designation is a reflection of Van Wert Middle School staff\u2019s leadership providing students with the best education possible.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>On March 15, Van Wert Middle School is inviting the Van Wert community to visit classrooms in action. Stop in anytime throughout the school day (7:40 a.m.-3 p.m.) and visit a classroom or talk with teachers, students or administration.<\/p>\n<p><!--more-->The school plans to end the day with a Schools to Watch celebration in the gymnasium.
